Recreational Activities & Adult Education

Recreational Activities

Enjoying a new life in a new country doesn’t mean that you can’t continue any hobbies or pastimes you enjoy in your home country. And you might even want to try something different, or take the opportunity to meet more people.

That’s why each of our communities has company-recognized employee ‘self-directed groups’, sponsoring and promoting a variety of activities. Here are a few examples of some of the current groups:

Leisure Activities

Cultural (including an Art Group, Choral Group, Oasis Quilters Guild, and Outing Group)
Service (including the Arabian Automobile Association, Garden Group, and Arabian Kennel Club)
Special Interest (including a Bridge Group, Chess Group and Scrabble Group)
Sports (including a Badminton Group, Bicycle Club, Tennis Association, Road Runners and Touch Rugby)

Please note that not every group will be represented in each community, and the smaller communities of Ras Tanura, Abqaiq and ‘Udhailiyah will not have as many self directed groups as Dhahran.

Adult/Community Education

It’s important to us that you feel able to realize your full potential. So, supporting our vision for employee self-development, our Community Education Program aims to provide you and your eligible dependants with a range of options.

Offering opportunities for members of our community to both teach and learn, our quality courses will help you discover hidden talents, acquire new skills, and explore new areas of interest in a multicultural environment. With day and evening hours that suit different schedules, four separate sessions give you flexibility and variety while accommodating any school and family leave commitments.

Leisure Activities

We offer a wide range of academic and leisure interest classes, including:
Computing (courses ranging from basic introduction to computers to database management, web design, or training in specific software)
English (courses from beginner level to business professional level and conversation)
Fitness (male and female exercise classes and courses)
Interest (art, photography, cooking, history, psychology, crafts, beauty, desert driving and more)
Languages (Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, Farsi, Chinese and more)
Saudi Aramco Employees Association (SAEA)

SAEA is a non-profit group for the express purpose of offering its members a variety of community-wide recreational, educational and cultural opportunities (which do not conflict with Saudi Aramco’s interests or endorsements). It also provides support to other self-directed groups, and to Saudi Aramco’s Community Services organization.

Unless you opt not to participate, you will automatically be a member of the SAEA and a nominal membership fee (approx £0.60) will be deducted from your monthly paycheck.
