Al-Labban Named to Head Petro Rabigh
DHAHRAN, August 12, 2009 -- Ziad S. Al-Labban has been elected by the Board of Petro Rabigh as president and CEO of Petro Rabigh as of Aug. 1. Saudi Aramco has also announced that effective July 1, Al-Labban became the general manager for Rabigh Development.
Al-Labban has worked for Saudi Aramco for about 27 years, starting in October 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
In 1988, Al-Labban took part in the Out-of-Kingdom Advanced Degree Program, where he earned a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
After graduation, he returned to Saudi Aramco, where he assumed various responsibilities in the upstream and downstream oil and gas businesses, including experience in Petroleum Engineering and Development, Northern Area Producing, Southern Area Producing, Exxon Production and Research Co. in Houston, Corporate Planning and International Joint Ventures.
He served a three-year assignment as vice president of Corporate Planning for Petron Corp. in the Philippines. During that time, Al-Labban served on the Petron Board of Directors and as chairman of the insurance subsidiary Ovincor.
He later served as acting executive director of Information Technology and twice as the acting executive director of Corporate Planning.
From August 2007 through July 2009, Al-Labban was president and CEO of Saudi Refining, Inc. (SRI) in Houston. During that time, he was responsible for managing SRI’s interest in Motiva Enterprises, a major U.S. refiner
Al-Labban has participated in several management development activities, including the Global Business Program and the President’s Leadership Challenge. He has also served as a director on the Board of the Saudi Arabia chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
