The Clinical Nurse Specialist attends to patient care complexity with a similar level of skills as a Senior Supervisor and with a superior level of clinical knowledge.

In today's world, health care knowledge is growing exponentially. The CNS is educated to access, assimilate and share knowledge both within nursing and across discipline boundaries. The CNS:

Is able to integrate technology into care process, in keeping with this most rapidly developing feature of medical care.
Is prepared to synthesize information from multiple sources and levels of care; communicating knowledge from the bedside to the boardroom.
Has well developed critical thinking skills.
Has a pivotal role in bridging the gap between patient and care provider, and among the multidisciplinary team.
Case manages specialty patient populations and facilitates collaboration among all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Is focused on cost containments.
Carries a patient case load in a designated specialty.
Ensures that the plan of care is developed and executed by the health care team.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education
Master's Degree in Education
Background in Nursing
Teaching as a generalist nurse educator

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Nursing
Teaching as generalist nurse educator
Teaching experience in leadership/management and/or clinical teaching experience advantageous. Canidate will be required to teach a variety of education courses.

The CNS is a Master's degree position.
