The Exploration Organization primary responsibilities are finding and delineating new oil and gas fields, and characterizing the company's large portfolio of oil and gas fields and reservoirs for field development. The Organization has six departments: Area Exploration (oil and gas exploration), Reservoir Characterization (reservoir geology and geophysics, geosteering, modeling, and groundwater), Resource Assessment (pore volume and resource assessment), Exploration Operations (geophysical acquisition and processing, and cartographic support), Exploration Technical Services (geological, geophysical, and data management), and Upstream Ventures.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Saudi Aramco is seeking an experienced micropalaeontologist to join Exploration Technical Services to serve Exploration and Reservoir Characterization activities in Saudi Arabia. Plan, perform and fully document micropalaeontological analyses to provide age and palaeoenvironmental interpretations for exploration and field development. Provide rapid response operational analyses at the office and well site, and also perform rig-site biosteering support for coiled-tube development drilling. Ability and willingness to train in-house micropalaeontologists is essential.
SELECTION CRITERIA: MS and five years industrial micropalaeontological biostratigraphic experience, PhD preferred. Experience with Tethyan platform Permian, Jurassic and Cretaceous micropalaeontological foraminiferal palaeoenvironments and stratigraphic markers, biostratigraphic software and principles of sequence stratigraphy preferred.
