Position Description
We seek an experienced Metallurgy or Welding Engineer to join the Consulting Services Department (CSD). The CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations, introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards. The Materials Engineering Unit of the CSD is responsible in providing technical support to plant operations, new projects activities, standardization, purchasing, manufacturers, and maintaining company standards up to date on issues related to metallurgical and welding.

Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following
Successful candidate is expected to provide central engineering consultancy providing welding and materials support to the company's capital program and existing facilities.

The Job Functions Shall Include:
Provide welding and materials consultations to all company operating facilities, upstream, downstream, terminals and pipelines.
Perform failure analysis to determine the cause of failures and recommend preventative measures.
Prepare complete repair procedures in line with Saudi Aramco standards, international codes and established welding practices.
Develop and maintain company standards, procedures and best practices in the areas of welding and materials. Serve on international standards writing bodies, as opportunity allows.
Review capital project development documents and design packages per company procedure. Review welding and heat treatment procedures for projects and maintenance.
Introduce and develop new technologies within Saudi Aramco operations in the area of welding and materials.
Deliver classroom training sessions in welding and materials to Saudi Aramco engineers.
Mentor and coach young Saudi engineers in welding and materials.
Publish technical papers in local and international conferences in welding and materials.
Participate or lead team in incident investigation, special auditing teams and organizational improvements teams.

Minimum Requirement
Candidate must have a degree in metallurgy or welding engineering. An M.S. degree or Ph.D. degree in a related field is highly desirable. The candidate must have 15+ years of welding engineering experience in fabrication and manufacturing related to the oil and gas industry.

Additional Experience Required
The candidate must be experienced in running welding procedures and codes, ASMES IX, AWS D1.1 and API 1140.
The candidate must have been responsible for welding operations, selection of welding procedures and consumables, qualification of personnel and correction of welding problems.
Candidate must be knowledgeable of materials and failure mechanisms in the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of "fitness for service" is required. Certification to AWS-CWI or CSWIP is desirable.
Knowledge of refinery processes and gas plant operations is desirable; some field work in refineries will be required.
Must be able to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural groups, and also be able to pursue work independently.
Must be willing to mentor local staff and to provide training programs. Excellent written and spoken English are required.
Excellent office computer skills are required.
