Position Description:
We seek an experienced Polymers and Coatings Engineering Specialist to join the Consulting Services Department (CSD). The CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations, introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards.
The Nonmetallics and Protective Coatings Unit of CSD is responsible for providing effective specialized engineering consultation, introducing viable technologies and maintaining quality standards in the areas of coatings and nonmetallic materials. Its functions include:
1. Provide technical support to the operation departments.
2. Evaluate new coatings.
3. Maintain coatings standards.
4. Introduce cutting edge coating technologies.
5. Handle the RSA function for protective coatings.
6. Provide proper coating selection.
7. Troubleshoot coating failures.
8. Technical evaluation of coating manufacturers and applicators.
Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:
Successful candidate is expected to provide general engineering consultations focusing on coatings and lining applications, providing support to Saudi Aramco operations and capital projects. The job functions shall include:
1. Provide consultation and coating recommendations in coating specifications and applications to field people.
2. Write company standards, procedures and best practices in his area of expertise.
3. Provide consultation and review of capital project developments by reviewing engineering design packages. Attend project review meetings in or out of the Kingdom as needed.
4. Develop new technologies and apply these new technologies in Saudi Aramco operations. Apply for patents when appropriate.
5. Participate in providing training courses to developing engineers.
6. Mentoring and developing engineers and be prepared to share his knowledge.
7. Publish and present technical papers.
8. Lead or be a team member in special teams and task forces, such as incident investigation teams, special audit teams, value engineering teams, organizational improvement teams, etc.
Minimum Requirement:
Candidate must have a B.S. degree in Polymers and Coatings Engineering. Candidate with an M.S. degree is desirable. Other acceptable majors include: Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Materials Engineering, Chemistry and other related sciences.
Additional Experience Required:
" Wide knowledge in thermoplastic and thermoset coatings and linings, including composite coating, reinforced coatings, concrete coating and other applications in paint manufacturing, and the oil and gas industry (onshore and offshore).
" Wide knowledge and experience in field coating of pipelines, pipe works, tanks and vessels. Field inspection and lab testing and failure analysis.
" Familiarization with the different coating equipment, such as spray equipment, blasting machines and abrasive recycling.
" In-depth knowledge of Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) and 3-Layer PP&PE coatings for piping and pipelines in both shop and field applications.
" Adequate knowledge in coating for offshore structures and sub-sea pipelines.
" Excellent presenter for coating presentations and high convincing ability.
" Preferred with a recognized coating specialist certification or NACE coating certificate or equivalent certification.
