The Exploration Organization primary responsibilities are finding and delineating new oil and gas fields, and characterizing the company's large portfolio of oil and gas fields and reservoirs for field development. The Organization has six departments: Area Exploration (oil and gas exploration), Reservoir Characterization (reservoir geology and geophysics, geosteering, modeling, and groundwater), Resource Assessment (pore volume and resource assessment), Exploration Operations (geophysical acquisition and processing, and cartographic support), Exploration Technical Services (geological, geophysical, and data management), and Upstream Ventures.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Saudi Aramco is seeking an experienced Regional Geophysicist to join the Exploration Organization in Saudi Arabia.
A geophysicist who is able to integrate a wide variety of data to produce regional structure and isochron/isopachs maps that provide a framework to define play fairways and generate new play concepts, in both mature and frontier basins. Essential skills will include hands on seismic 2D and 3D interpretation and mapping skills using workstations, attribute analysis, depthing and other applications as required for regional studies. Knowledge of sequence and seismic stratigraphic principles, together with their integration with sedimentological models and log/petrophysical analyses is paramount.
SELECTION CRITERIA
A bachelor degree in geology or geophysics, an advanced degree is preferable. Five years of experience in regional geophysical studies. A strong geologicial background and understanding of sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy is desired.
