Position Description:
We seek an experienced Hydrocracking Catalyst R&D Engineer to join The Research and Development Center. The Research and Development Center's mission is to conduct pioneering research, introduce new technology and provide specialized technical services that will enhance Saudi Aramco profitability and productivity in a cost-effective, timely and collaborative manner. The R&D Center in Dhahran currently has positions in the Upstream and Downstream research programs in the areas of:
- Petroleum Fuel Formulation
- Crude Oil Separation
- Water Systems
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
Lead process development effort for the commercialization of new hydrocracking catalyst technologies.
Do catalyst synthesis, characterization, screening & testing
Conduct techno-economic analysis of process options for catalyst manufacturing
Use mathematical modeling for catalyst & kinetic model development
Liaise with personnel from Saudi Aramco refining facilities to ensure that technology development sought by R&DC Clean Petroleum Fuels team can be deployed according to Saudi Aramco corporate guidelines
Issue reports and file patents from R&DC activities
Train young Saudi Engineers and keep abreast with current trends in catalyst & process technologies
Contribute to project management
Minimum Requirement:
PhD degree in Process Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with emphasis on catalyst development
Minimum five (5+) year's industrial experience in research and development on catalysts for refining and/or petrochemical processes
Depth of knowledge of catalyst synthesis, characterization, testing & scale-up
Experience in analysis of laboratory data & kinetic model development
Experience in interpretation of various catalyst characterization data
Experience in catalyst testing and screening in bench scale and pilot plant units
Track record of achievements in the area of catalyst development for refining and upgrading of petroleum fuels
Background in catalytic reactor systems and fundamentals of heterogeneous catalysis
Data analysis, report writing, and technical presentations
Ability to identify and solve problems
Team work and interpersonal skills
